Looks like AMD are readying a Zen 2 (Matisse) refresh for release July 7th. *Now available*
These new parts will be clocked slightly higher due to a more refined and matured 7nm process.

Confirmed XT clock speeds

3900XT - 3.8Ghz base / 4.7Ghz boost (+100)
*3900X - 3.8Ghz base / 4.6Ghz boost

3800XT - 3.9Ghz base / 4.7Ghz boost (+200)
*3800X - 3.9Ghz base / 4.5Ghz boost

3600XT - 3.8Ghz base / 4.5Ghz boost (+100)
*3600X - 3.8Ghz base / 4.4Ghz boost

Under the hot sun.
Looks like AMD are readying a Zen2 / 3xxx refresh for release sometime around July.
  • AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT replaces the 3900X
  • AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT replaces the 3800X
  • AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT replaces the 3600X
It's expected that the replacement parts will be clocked slightly higher due to a more refined and matured 7nm process.
Offering roughly an 5-10% performance uplift over the older SKUs.

I will update and add information as it becomes available.

If a rumour from 2 weeks ago is true, these are made on N7P like the console APUs.
So 7-10% higher clock speed on the same power envelop like the current CPUs is expected.

Which means 4.9-5Ghz 3600/3800/3900 CPUs. Heh I would trade the 3900X to put my hands on the 3800XT just to tweak it.

Seems a bit odd having a gpu naming convention attached to CPU's, "xt". Still i suppose it differentiates them from the previous iterations.

Was considering a 3900x, might snag the xt if its a decent little bump up, and assuming its x370 compatible.:)

Going to be interesting to see what happens to prices. Soon there will be 3900X, 3900XTb and 4900. Looks like decent performance will be working its way down the pricing quite quickly.

I must resist changing CPU until AM5 releases :D I'm really interested to see what happens on the GPU front.

Im on a 3800x, one things for sure, if AMD can afford to add another 5-10% performance on a small refresh i hope it means the 4800x etc has a good 15% ontop of that or they just wot be attractive for 3 series users to move up, especially if you own a 3800XT etc.

So im thinking if this respin adds another 8% perf ontop, then the 4 series later this year could also be quite spectacular

I was thinking along very similar lines. One of the issue with AM4 is it's so tempting to drop in upgrades that you don't really need ;) Need to just keep saving my money and wait for the right time to drop in a 16C 4000 series chip. That'll see me through until I've paid off my mortgage :)

I am surprised those early rumors about a Zen2 refresh seems to be true but if they can launch these alongside the B550 boards, what little momentum intel could have gained in the DIY market would probably vanish.

Good point. Anyone buying in now has some nice choices. New refreshed chips or discounted but still great performing previous ones all with access to PCIE 4.0 and reasonably priced motherboards. A good saving over what I paid for my Aorus Master and 3700X on release.
