Hi all, it's been about 10 years since I last built a PC, but my 8 year old has decided he wants to play Fortnite on PC.

I'm so far out of the loop with PC specs these days I have no idea to start. I'm guessing budget will be around £350. No idea if that's even feasible?

Any help or pointers would be appreciated. We have a monitor that can be used.

I would say to go with something like this and try pick up a used RX480/570/ gtx970 gpu for about 70 quid.
Try get a ryzen 5 2600/1600AF cpu which goes for around the same price as the 3100 since the 3100 would need a bios update to be compatible unless of course you have some old ryzen cpus knocking about.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £309.60 (includes shipping: £11.70)

thats a pretty decent spec tbh. i would swap the motherboard for a B450m Mortar Max (watch auction or used partts) so that you have scope to upgrade to Zen 3 if you choose to. 300 series chipset also supports Zen 2 but I dont think the VRM are going to handle any kind of overclocks

there are probably more used parts for ATX format motherboard so maybe try to get a cheap (but functional) ATX case. try have a look at the CiT C100 Mid Tower Gaming Case
