As much as I love my Roku, I would prefer a PC with a keyboard and touchpad.

Form factor is not an issue, can hide a case away.

Will be used as a Plex client (not server), web browser and general access point for streaming content through ethernet.

Low power, passive cooled CPU preferred but would be OK with a quiet'ish CPU fan.

Thanks.

Thanks. Good shout but I am not a fan of Android, I like to have a bit more versatiliy.

Am looking for a PC build.
If youre intent on x86, then look at the NUCs.

What can't the nvidia shield do? I've recently bought this thinking it would be a downgrade, but the hardware is incredible. It has unusual limitations (multitasking by default on androidtv is neutered), nothing you can't overcome, and you can sideload anything you want really.

I use the Jellyfin client, and game stream to it via (still testing) Rainway, Moonlight and Parsec.

It's pretty hard to beat, its not cheap, and its held its price for 5+ years quite incredibly, and the competition don't seem to challenge it. I held off thinking it would get cheaper, but it just never has.

For a PLAYER/Streaming box only, which would be preferred..

AMD Ryzen 3 3200GAMD
Athlon 3000G

This is a client only build, I already have a strong server.

This is needed for Plex playback and Youtube, iPlayer etc.

£35 price difference so about 45%, not sure the performance gain for the usage is going to be 45% or am I missing something?

Thanks.
