Hi,

We're looking to sand down our staircase and landings, it's floorboards, 1980s build. I've sanded floors before, they were old victorian things that were rock hard. These look nice and easy.

Problem is our staircase is in our living room, right next our kitchen. Dust will get everywhere unless we can mitigate it somewhat.

I've seen some sanders that you can attach a hoover to collect the dust. Does anyone have any recommendations?

oddly I've been looking them up this evening, hss have 2 types for hire think the edge sander would be suitable for your needs. Looked to be circa 20 quid day hire and I think it has a dust bag.

Somewhere in the middle.
I use a dewalt orbital sander with a hoover attached to it. It catches a good amount of dust. Obviously its only hand sized though. its nothing particularly specialist for floors. good sander though.

If it's for a staircase and landings your looking at smaller sanders ideally.
The hss hire ones are huge. I'd go with a belt or orbital sander. Possibly buy a old second hand vacuum that takes bags and keep it constantly running while sanding.

You could close off the kitchen & living room with polythene sheeting but& masking tape, beware the dust will still manage it's way through but should help. It would probably prevent people getting upstairs and through the kitchen though.

Can get a makita sheet sander for 50 quid
Has a dust bag
Obviously the dust bag is small
But you can take it off and connect the sander to a Henry hoover etc instead
You can get cheaper ones but for
50 quid the makita is good value and
Decent quality
The bearings and brushes are also replaceable so it's not a throw away one :):)
