So I just got a brand new 16" MBP 2019 and its my first laptop in 6 years. I am still using the charge ouyt of the box and was wondering if I should let it run all the way down and then charge and then use. Or is the battery more intelligent these days?

I do not want to just leave it charging all the time and ruin the battery life. Currently at a cycle count of 2 :D

Cheers

If it's plugged in and on AC power, as long as the Mac isn't being hammered the charging circuit will be bypassed and it'll run directly off the mains.

Last time I read about lithium batteries being charged so not MacBook specific. It was ideal to keep them charged between 20-90%. Not to run them completely flat or keep fully charging them as the heat increases more in that last 10%.

Lithium batteries don't suffer from memory charge like old rechargeables did.

Yup. Keep the lithium cells between 20-80% for optimal lifespan.

If you have the option of limiting charging wattage, do so as well. Higher wattage charging = more heat which degrades cells faster.
