1st Budget Build - Feedback Appreciated

Hey, threw this list together for a PC build for some Causal 1080p gaming to get me started and would appreciate any feedback. Cheers

Motherboard - MSI B450 Mortar MAX - £95.00
RAM - Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB 3200 CL16 - £65.00
Case - Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L - £45.00
PSU - EVGA 500 W1, 80+ WHITE 500W - £51.00

GPU - Saphhire Radeon RX 580 8GB Nitro+ - £140.00 (Used)

Total £556.00

Already have an SSD and all peripherals. Prices are rough from what i've seen online.

I'd suggest you choose a different memory for Ryzen, LPX doesn't seem to play nice.

The RX 580 you quoted is pretty expensive for a used model.

Don't know anything about that PSU, but judging by the price alone, I'm not sure about the build quality.

Looks like a good 1080p system - as Tetras mentions though, bit expensive £140 for a used RX 580... They're £160 brand new.

Only thing I'd change is PSU as well, get something like this Corsair CV550w.

I got some lpx 3600 ram and it runs perfectly using the xmp profile.

I bought the ram along with a 3700x and an msi 570 pro motherboard so everything was cheapish but I’ve had no problems at all so far ( about 7 weeks ago now )

Great system but I'd suggest trying to save up a bit more to get better ram. Don't get me wrong the 3200Mhz is decent but, especially with ryzen processors, they benefir from having faster memory. I recommend the Corsair Vengeance 16GB 3600Mhz.

Might want an additional fan or 2 for the case. A 140mm for the front would suffice, depending on room temps and gpu choice.

Built a mate's pc with that case, it's nice for the money.

Used the Corsair RAM with my Ryzen 2600, now using it with my 3700x
My partner has same RAM in her system with a 2600x
No problems at any point.

Where did you hear that it doesn't play nicely?

This is technically true, but with any gpu costing say £350 or less, there'll be almost no difference at all.

I had my memory at the default slower speed before I put it at XMP profile, I have the 3600 mhz memory and it was then more snappy in Windows.
Might be microseconds but my brain can see the difference in snappiness. Edit : that was 2400mhz I think.. What is it? About £10 more for 3600mhz its a no brainer.

If you had not already set it at xmp, then it would have been running at the modern ddr4 default of 2133, so yep a 3700x with 3600 mhz ram vs 2133 would probably be noticeable, even within windows, but that's a rare occurrence where the ram would have been running waaaay under Ryzen 3000 ram specs of 3200mhz. When using a gpu like a 580, there will be almost no difference between say 3200mhz and 3600mhz ram (of the same CL speed).

I completely agree, if there's only £10 difference for a massive jump in ram speed (at the same CL values), then I would tell anyone to go for it. The point I'm trying to make though (poorly it would seem) is that people seem to be under the impression that going for higher speed ram will result in higher gaming performance, when in reality a very modest jump in gpu will garner a much, MUCH larger performance increase.

Fair enough. I'm new to the world of PC building so still learning the ropes!
