Buying the Series X at launch is going to be similar to buying a new graphics card (and CPU here ofc..). All your old games are still there, but you can up the resolution and the settings a bit now. This will completely mess with the console fanboys who love their generations, which is something MS seems to be killing off.

Speaking of trashing, I'd prefer they took their time and got Halo right. It's actually an exclusive that is worth getting excited about, as it could be epic if they do it right. Just think Halo 3. Those across the pond on PS have a great exclusive once per console, with little other than multi-platformers (unless games aimed at 10 year olds are your thing), so they need to get their first-party stuff right.

I'm glad Microsoft have adopted the strategy of focusing on an ecosystem versus a console system. At least I'll be able to play all their first party titles on PC.

Not surprised at the halo delay didn't look ready imo and the back lash it for probably didn't help matters.

Nice to hear launch date for the consol though, I suspect pre orders for it won't be far now

What are the other confirmed launch titles? Any big hitters? Even third party?

As has been mentioned previously, Microsoft seem to be concentrating on the eco system rather than purely the console. I went from Xbox 360 to PS4 and i'm still sitting on the fence at the moment with regards to the next generation console. Either way I won't be buying one until most likely holidays 2021. Let them bed in a bit.

As long as the launch coincides nicely with Cyberpunk and the X gives me the best visuals/performance possible at launch then it's still a day 1 purchase for me.

The Medium and Scorn. Wasteland 3, Tell Me Why, and Battletoads are out this month, but cross-gen. Grounded beta has recently come out. And Gears Tactics is due around the time the Series X launches (again, cross-gen). Plus a bunch of current-gen titles are getting enhancements for Series X (Gears 5, FH4, Sea of Thieves, etc.). So it's not like there's a lack of titles. Throw in all of the big multiplats due this year, and nobody is likely to be bored.

There's a slim chance they have a big surprise in store. But realistically, the only first party studios which could have a game ready to go are Turn 10 and The Initiative.

It probably will - I'm expecting dynamic resolution and unlocked frame rate options on the Xbox One X version. This will then automatically become full resolution (4K60) on Xbox Series X. If they do their coding right.

Then the proper next-gen version will include ray tracing but we may end up going back to a dynamic 4K30 set up for it.

Don't care about Halo personally, but they've made the right decision in delaying it and getting it right. Also couldn't care less about this exclusive/first party nonsense, it's all about what plays the multi-plats best and being able to play the stuff I already own with extra bells and whistles (Fallout would be awesome). Everyone bangs on about Sony's amazing first party catalogue but I disagree, there was nothing interesting for me past Last of Us and that was a PS3 game. Just get the keyboard and mouse working right and i'll be super happy, fps just isn't the same without it.

Now if that isn't console bashing for the sake of I don't know what is - unless you're into some completely niche games or like your Japanese Porn games, there is no possible way you can have lived through the entire PS4 generation and say "there was nothing that interested me".

To say that is saying "There have been no games released in the 7 years that interested me".

The core first party games (GoW, UC, TLoU, etc.) are pretty similar so it’s not that surprising.

He's allowed his opinion........we might not agree with it, but I don't think we should criticise it either.
I do think the dearth of good Xbox One exclusives has led to the PS4 games being a little overplayed (it's almost as if M$ were happy to skip a generation), but imo there has been some great games from Sony this generation.
