Hi all, currently have the following setup from around 8 years ago:
  • i5 2500k@ 3.30Ghz
    DDR3 16GB
    GIGABYTE Z68X-UD3P
    AMD 6800 Radeon HD
Recently with the current situation got back into Football Manager 20, and has most users know its very processor demanding.
I'm looking to upgrade the whole tower, I currently play FM on 2D settings but if graphics and gameplay improved over the next few years then i would revert back to 3D graphics.
FM is the only game I would play on this system, other use would be work (visual studio code for programming/selenium for automation/sql developer) and watching tv series/movies.

Anybody have any ideas?

Budget is around £400-500 but could be stretched. (will only require a 512gb SSD)
Thanks

Given you're not overly bothered about graphics at this stage, I'd do something like this:

3700x
B450 Tomahawk Max board
16GB 3600Mhz RAM

You could always put a fat graphics card in that further down the line.

Thanks for the reply.
Out of interest if i did decide to get one now within the budget which one is recommended? (it would need display port and hdmi)

I will be upgrading the PSU as well, currently a Corsair modular 650W. which was purchased at the time of the build around 8 years ago.
