The cans like the one in the picture are not aircon gas e.g. R134a, it is highly flammable LPG.
That's why the label will say things like replacement gas or equivalent or bespoke hydrocarbon blend.
Really bad idea seeing as they are being put into systems with slow leaks.
Imagine a car with a leak and parked in a garage integral to a house!

A lot depends what equipment they use. Most car places just use one of those automatic machines, which are fine for filling a system but rubbish for testing.
You want a proper AC place, that use stand alone manual equipment, they can leave it on pressure test as long as they need then to test for really tiny leaks.
OK - thanks for the advice, will try and find an A/C specialist to get it checked.
Usually go to the dealer, who I would have thought would do a thorough check

Why are they junk?

Because it's not actual refrigerant, it's always some less harmless gas which just dilutes the actual refrigerant in your car, reducing the performance of the AC system. It also doesn't fix leaks, and it's horrible, nasty stuff which can be completely forgotten about, together with all the arsed, for a tenner extra.
