just wipe the drive and sell it on. leave the animal pr0n on it for more sale money.

I now have 6 coasters, containing 2 x 60GB and 4 X 160 GB of old memories! Not that they are readable any more. The chassis seem like very high quality Aluminium? Will recycle them somewhere.

This. It's the safest, fastest way.
By the way, you can remove the top and the drive will continue to function correctly for some time. It's interesting to see it working. It's surprisingly robust.
