Absolutely loving this game... finished tutorial 7 and onto tutorial 8.
What can I do next after the tutorials? Is there any resources to teach the ABC of flying and all thats involved?

This tutorial series looks good for beginners although its a different game I think the same concepts apply.
I was going to follow it in the Cessna 152

Annoying bug I'm suffering with. After a flight from airport to airport, I chose another and I can no longer control the aircraft. I can select the menu at the top and escape out into the menu but all keyboard and HOTAS commands no longer work until a restart of the sim.

Thanks Captain Obvious, I know what render scaling means :)

Is the AI control completely useless for everyone? Turned it on a couple of times and just bangs the throttle fully open and tries to destroy the aircraft.
Don't pass it off as 4k then fella

Trying to install on someone else's computer and it downloaded 90gb yesterday and just seemed to freeze at around 86gb, so I put the computer to sleep last night as I didn't want it on whilst I was asleep. Woke up this morning and restarted the game, it then comes up saying 3gb needs to be installed, but has been on this screen for 45 minutes now... any ideas?

SNIP

I had the same issue, as have many others. Ended up having to delete some of the "temporary" download files for it to get going again (which meant downloading a further 60GB).

No need to be an ass - was just pointing out that you weren't in fact playing at 4K like you said, because of that setting. Someone else with a 1080 might have been wondering why they couldn't play at 4K whilst you were claiming you could.

4k is fine on my 1080, with the render scaling dropped to 75-80%, so you can get a sharp UI and there's very little blurriness.

I've emboldened the relevant text here to make sure no-one else is getting confused.

There are probably a lot of people running 4k monitors that are interested in running the game and want to know if there is a way to get satisfactory performance on a relatively modest GPU. The answer is yes, with the game set to native 4k, and render scaling turned down, it's very playable, and you still keep a nice sharp UI.

I got that render scaling thingy set to 160 (If i set it to 200 the game play not smooth) everything else i just leave set on there maximum or ultra setting..
(This is when playing at 3440x1440)

Not sure what it actually does :D

Try 8k with 35% scale, better bragging -> 8k is fine on my 1080

Isn't render scaling essentially dropping the res' though if it's under 100%. So you're not actually at 4k anymore, regardless if you set it as that initially?

if you’re enjoying VFR flying, get yourself some free charts here - https://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/flight_info/aeronav/digital_products/vfr/

They’re large PDFs, the sectional ones cover the whole of the USA. The terminal charts are higher scale and cover the more congested areas. The detail in Flight Simulator is perfectly good enough to find most of the details that these charts show and allow you to do VFR navigation just as you would in the real world.
Awesome idea, thanks!

Completed my first ILS flight today in the A320. For some reason ATC insisted I stay at FL300 and then drop to 3000ft for the next way point right before approach. That clearly didn't pan out as I flew over the runway at FL120

You weren't in showcase view were you? I did this once thinking I was in normal outside view and wondered why I couldn't control anything

Yeh, it's a shame the vnav doesn't work in the a320 at the minute. I used to fly the flight factor a320 in x-plane and miss all the fully functioning systems. Give it a bit of time and MS should hopefully get up to scratch. At the mo I've just been requesting to lower my alt to something sensible from about half way in to the flight to make sure I'm at a sensible height / speed to drop down to catch the ILS
