So I'm currently having a utility built, I'm leaning towards an acrylic one (corian). Does anyone have any experience of them?
The sanding is the worst part as you have to go through the grades in sandpaper and use a random orbital sander with as flat a base as possible. Are you using a corian splashback on the wall? Its not going to see anything hot (hopefully). Are they quite easy to machine? Do you still use a router?
Thanks, I was planning on doing it myself (wondering if I can get it made to measure). I hadn't really thought about splashbacks as the sink won't get a massive amount of use. It 2ill mainly be for washing paintbrushes So we were leaning towards an S/S sink.We make quite a few receptions at work using corian, there are a few cheaper alternatives. Is someone doing the worktop for you? Let me know if you want any advice
Where have you looked for units, you should be able to find them no problem. Have you got overall measurements and ill help you outI think we're going to reign it in a bit and go with solid wood. I just can't justify the extra cost in a utility. I just wish it was easy to find units online, most website want to measure up and give you a quote including fitting.
Guess its in the eye of the beholder but I've done lots of jobs with both and I prefer the look of corianSolid wood looks much nicer IMO. Try worktop express for wood but they also have solid laminate you can buy.
