Family hack for £5k

Covid has left me selling my M2 to bolster a house deposit, so I’m looking for a cheap car to get me through the next 12-18 months.

I have £5k to spend, but can increase it as far as 7 for something worth it.

It needs to be Auto, four seats, preferably either not totally dull or with a decent boot and able to tow, I’m willing to trade one for the other.

Most important to me is that it’s a decent place to be and reliable.

I’m looking at the following;
E90 330d
Octavia vRS Diesel
Mk5 Golf GTI

Looking at the collective OCUK motors knowledge for other suggestions.

For less than 5k, and to keep for a year or two, I'd say the larger petrol engine with mileage that low are a perfectly reasonable choice.
