my 3700x is at stock, not sure how power hungry it is, not even sure why i got this cpu over the 3600 lol

Then you'll be fine, even if you overclocked the 3080 650w is enough.

Yesterday's Gamers Nexus video says you want about 100w safe space after the CPU+GPU load on your PSU. Lets say you overclocked the 3080 and it was drawing 350w, a stock 3700x will only draw 105w at 100% load, in game its probably half that at 55w. So you have way more than 100w of safe space

so you think a ASUS 3090 for £1589 is good value against Nvidia offering the same 3090 for £1399

I suspect Asus's 3090 offerings are as good or better value than their 2080Ti offerings were.

I never thought the 2080Ti was worth the price, so I didn't buy one. But If I had thought that the 2080Ti was worth it, I don't see how I could be mad about the 3090. Generation over generation, It offers more of a performance increase for less of a price increase.

Coming from having used both a 2080 Ti and 5700XT the 3080 is seriously impressive especially having watched Digital Foundries video on the initial performance overview, Around 40% faster than a 2080 Ti at half the price, Definitely a future purchase of mine depending on how AMD do with big Navi although I'm truthfully not expecting much after todays reveal, AMD would have to release a card as fast as the 3070 and 3080 but for a fair chunk less to hook people over from making an Nvidia purchase.

It's the hysteria that gets me. Jen is so good at making people think what they have is a load of crap.

To test this theory I allowed the virus that is COD MW to mutate and give itself 20gb more storage. I used all of the new settings, including the shadow maps and etc. Even used RT.

It looked superb, and at 1440p I was hitting around 150 FPS. So the performance has actually improved since I played it last, with more stuff enabled.

I can't see BLOPS 4 Cold War changing this very much, so the only thing I am left to worry about is Cyberpunk. Though what I really mean is that "worry" is actually a lime and I am just bitter.

Record 5 mins of footage with RT and let’s see you average 150fps during gameplay.

I had planned to get the 3090 but it isnt that far ahead of the 3080, so i'll go for the 3080 and have £700 to spend on other goodies. The 3090 would have been good for lightmap baking etc but unreal engine 5 will make that that obsolete, does it all realtime.

the official specs are 750w for 3090 and 3080 and 650w for 3070 BUT the footnote says based on pairing with an 10900k and other cpu combinations may have a lower requirement. (see the nvidia site and the full ampere specification lists)

Funny, I just bought an EVGA SuperNOVA 750w G1+ for another system as an Enermax Liberty 620w just blew up over the weekend from 2006.

That's normally how it goes with tech though.

My 1080Ti isn't worth much, and the 3080 I'll probably end up getting will be worthless eventually too.

That’s the thing to tech ownership. Does my Ti being devalued bother me no. Name of the game really. Same story for all GPU users really.

Has had some good use. People will be paying £14-1500 for a 3090 that in 2 years may also be worth £300 just the way things are.

I usually keep my cards anyway as spares especially if they drop that low. Don’t think I’ll be swapping it to a 3080, maybe 3090 have to see how fast it truly is first.

If not it will keep me until next gen as still plenty fast enough.
