Fitting a new card will be much of a ball ache due to current loop setup, which is maybe a good thing so I dont rush out and pre order a 3080.

Also more interested in rasterization performance than RT though DLSS 2.0 does looks decent. Taking a 1GB hit on VRAM is also a stinger but I don't want to be paying an extra 150 quid for a 20GB variant neither. Looking forward to the review embargoes ending then the hype train can really get going! (or derailed :p)

I hope the 3080 has a lot of overclocking headroom because the 2080ti takes no prisoners - cut Nvidias official cherry picked 40fps gap down to just 10fps - there are even parts where the 2080ti has higher fps than the 3080.

This is why we should be waiting for 3rd party benchmarks and not Nvidias absolute ridiculous best case cherry picked numbers that generally won't reflect reality for a lot of people.

Hardware unboxed was right to throw a mountain of salt on Nvidias official numbers when they told people do not buy anything until we give you our numbers. Now I'm thinking I sold my 2080ti too early or maybe should have just kept it.

So what you are saying is overclocking increases performance and gets higher fps?

My suspicion is that once AMD reveal their Big Navi Nvidia will announce their Ti variants with 16GB VRAM. Personally this is what I'm holding out for, a 3080Ti will do me nicely with a Zen3.
No, no you are suppose to buy the 3080 on release day. Be surprised that they released a 3080Ti with 16GB Vram some days/weeks later. Get mad for a moment and post something random on the forums. Sell your 3080 and try to recoup as much money back as possible. Then re-buy the 3080ti. Then delete your rant post so no one knows what you did.

Houston, We have a problem

Um, 28 FPS in Fortnite using a 3080 at 4K? Shouldn't the 3080 give you DLSS performance of 73 FPS by default. Then DLSS gives you like 100+ on top of that??? This is fortnite we talking here...It's already tuned well for nvidia.

The above, IMHO, is the perfect example of a vram (among other) bottleneck with open world/sandbox games using RT. Something I've been pounding on before.

I’ve decided to go all in SLI 3090.

What changed my mind was this video.

https://youtu.be/RqGCjIugqm0

If the 3090 is less than double the performance of the 2080 Ti, then RDR2 is going to run at lower than 60 FPS with a single 3090.

I currently run RDR2 at higher FPS than the 3090 will be capable of, so no point downgrading from 2 2080 Ti SLI to a single 3090.

Checking the bay Im actually surprised to see quite a few 1080ti founders edition for 300+. I have 2 of them I'm tempted to sell one now!

You'll get way more than £300. You'd sell one for £500+ if you do it this weekend (and have a decent feedback account).

I just saw one get bid up to £580 but the moron had a reserve so it didn't sell.

I did something similar, slapped in the old GTX 580. I'm not in a rush personally, but would like if I could get my 3090 on launch day. I'd be happy having it for Cyberpunk.
Im in no rush either the 2080ti is all i have i do't want to be without a graphics card for months and the new warcraft expansion comes out in October.
