Hi All
My Msi gtx 1080 bit the dust recently and have reverted back to my msi gtx 970 for now.
Was considering new GPU options but looks like my i5 7600k 4 core overclocked cpu wont really cut it anymore especially as I upgraded to a 4k monitor and am starting to hit the ceiling for what gpu I can upgrade to without bottlenecking my cpu.
As the new 3000 series nvidia are coming out soon and seem to offer a much better price/ performance I decided to built a new system.
Have already purchased all the parts I need except a motherboard.
Heres what I have so far

i9 9900k and corair hydro 100i (two years old £250 for both the cooler and cpu) 2nd hand from a friend (mates rates lol)
corsair vengeance pro 3600mhz ram

So off to a good start with cpu ,cooler and ram for just need a new motherboard.

Have these parts from my old setup

Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 Internal SSD High Performance

x2 Samsung NVMe M2 970 evo 1tb

EVGA SuperNova G2 750W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply

2 x 500GB 860 EVO SSD

Sound BlasterX AE-5 Hi-Resolution PCIe Gaming Soundcard,

Was looking at z390 mpg gaming pro carbon which is on discount at £155 from £200

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-...cket-1151-ddr4-atx-motherboard-mb-340-ms.html

or the z390 Ace

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-z390-ace-socket-1151-ddr4-atx-motherboard-mb-33z-ms.html

the z390 ace is £120 more than the z390 but has an extra m2 socket and a few other nice features too .
my last two pc builds have all been intel cpu and msi mobo , currently have msi Z270 carbon gaming pro.

I Don,t upgrade my pc very often so when I do its a nice leap forward.
i5 2500k (gtx570-gtx970) 8g ddr3 .seven years of gaming (that i5 2500k was a great value cpu)
i5 7600(msi gtx 1080) 16 gig ddr4. Four years of gaming until my gtx 1080 died ,great gpu card tho.
Hopefully my i9 9900k -3600mhz 32 gig -rtx 3070 or rtx 3080 setup will last me till the nvidia 5000 gpu cards are released lol.

So my question is should I go for the z390 mpg pro carbon for £155 or get the z390 ace for £270.
any money saved will go towards my gpu .

Open to any suggestions other than than the msi motherboards I have shortlisted but all the intel cpu msi mobo pc I have built are all still working after years of gaming .

If your other specifications are correct then you would have to go with the ace as the other board only has 2 m.2 slots and you have 3 m.2 nvmes.

Yeah joxeon would be nice if I could fit all those nvme drives in.

The z390 pro carbon is £120 cheaper but I,d only be Able to use 2 of my nvme drives but also it has only 4 sata port and I’m sure if I add a couple of Nvme drives it will knock out another 2 ports.
Have a Front loading 4 bay hard drive Enclosure For my media files and another 1tb ssd .so would need at least 3 more sata ports For a couple of Drive bays and another ssd
Guess it’s the msi z90 ace then as it has 6 sata ports

yes there are 6 SATA ports on the pro carbon think I was looking at wrong board.
I think i will just leave the sabret rocket nvme in my z70 motherboard and go with x2 Samsung NVMe M2 970 evo 1tb.
checked the manual for pro carbon and using the 2nd m2 slots knocks out one sata port which still leaves me x5 sata ports .x3 for my front drive bays and another 2 for my ssd.

Thanks for the help Joxeon , going with the msi gaming pro.
Would rather save £120 , loose a M2 slot and get a better gpu.
Added to basket:)
