tl;dw (salt shaker required)

  • 60% improved perf/w with most of that from architecture, not process

  • Not a 512 bit bus

  • 128mb of 'infinity cache' to make up for lack of bandwidth

  • No HBM on consumer cards

  • Clocks speeds up to the 'console level', ie implies 2.3ghz

  • 80CUs for top SKU

  • 6700 - 3070 level

  • 6800 - around 3080

  • 6900 - faster than 3080 and may 'nip at the heels' of the 3090

  • AMD considered undercutting NV but may price the same

  • AMD are 'very competitive, this is not Vega 64'
Edit: Didn't say 256 bit bus, just that it's not 512.
Thanks for that I agree with original comment

Yea nah lasted 10 seconds but am on the Buckfast so his talking seems far to slow. Will get round to it when my brain slows down to his level.

That will most likely never happen, as the guy is like most women, that I've met (no offense to the ladies), at giving details. What should take 1-2 minutes to convey takes around 8-10 minutes. It drives me nuts.

Get ready for benchmarks

3080 Benchmarks are here if you want to take a look or compare your current GPUs.

https://www.gpucheck.com/gpu/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080/intel-core-i9-10900k/ultra/

Looking like its 28% faster than a 2080ti which ironically if you take a founders 2080ti 250w TDP and add 28% it gives you 320w which is the 3080 TDP.

Looks like samsung 8NM was a flop and could only match TSMC 12NM at the same TDP which is why Nvidia have had to push up the power.

I wouldn’t consider that as benchmarks. It’s a sight showing an average of some games.what games? What settings?

scroll down.

just did and I hadn’t noticed that before

There is no way all those games have been tested on a 3080 on all those resolutions by one or two people willing to leak. It would take many reviewers giving information out and some of those games are just so random. I mean unless I’m looking at it wrong

scroll down.

oops, on my phone. Scrolled down now but still want to see some proper reviews with some time charts. I mean has th site you linked to really tested a 3080 in 4 different resolutions and 4 different quality settings with 415 different cpus and also managed to test a 3090 which nobody seems to have got hold of one yet to even put a pic up never mind testing.

or has the site estimated the results based on the specs of the cards?
