Weird boot room/mop cupboard/bar coming on :D

The weekend will be spent fixing the tanking, finishing off the cable runs for the electric and finishing the messy polystyrene insulation.

Joiners replacing the hall floor next week ready for the tiling!

slow and steady ....

Set to the electrics, armed with a basic skills and building regs!

managed to use up ~100m of cable running the socket ring in.

Using a dual pole fused spur off the socket ring to power the 6 LED driveway lights.

I need to work out how wire 2 PIRs to trigger the lights either at the front door or as you cross the threshold on to the drive.

I think I’ve worked out how to wire a PIR in parallel with the down light switch so when I come and go in the car the lights go on/off automatically and the switch will be an override

I’ve taken the permanent live and switched live from the original switch cable and a neutral from the light ring.
The PIR will attach to the red taped cable when it arrives, fingers crossed!!

It's been a couple of years since I've worked on meters, but I hope you've left enough space for the guy that has to work on them. ;)

<Edit: Ignore>

Hall floor up!
Also newly decorated hall, ignore the socket on the left, it’s a work in progress to replace the one on the right

Are you Ply boarding on top of the floorboards before tiling or using a decoupling membrane straight on top?

@JRJ The hope is decoupling membrane staring on to the chipboard with no ply, this was the tilers plan as long as it was level and sturdy enough. I’ll leave it in his hand, if he ever turns up!

Great thanks getting mixed opinions with our renovation, we have 22mm floorboards throughout the new and old upstairs, few have said tile straight on so they've been binned then its a split between ply and tile or ply tile and membrane, I'll have membrane on site anyway for the downstairs wet UFH.

In acme's chair.
Read through the whole thread again, lots of updates since I last poked my head in!

Fantastic work, and I love the style you're going for as well. The retro modern. I'm not sure if I should feel inspired or depressed that I'll never have the gall to do something like this... I'll go with both. :p

10 weeks have gone past like 2, lock down has been very busy for me juggling staff being off, me being off at various times.

Finally got carpet on my youngest’s bedroom

Started panelling the upstairs toilet (yet to finish thw other side around the sink

Store room, micro workshop all boarded with the help of the wife!

I’ve modified a modular wine rack to fit under the stairs, ignore the radiator that’s on the wall opposite and next to the wine rack will be a drinks fridge.

And the joiners have dropped the stairs ceiling for some spots, and obviously all walls below internal ground floor level have been insulated.

Very bitty which has been very annoying but hopefully picking up a bit now.
need to book the plasterer in and find a new tiler for the hall after being let down again.

Your youngests bedroom has an en suite?
That's not an ensuite, it's a 4th Master Bathroom.

ha it is the 4th bathroom and actually the only en-suite in the house. Plan is do do the master bedroom next and put an en-suite in there, it’s 7x4.5m so plenty of room!

Cloakroom area is plyd, most of this will be cover by a fridge and storage, the rest I’ll either tile or paint.

Awkward doorway plyd and frame in, just need to sort the ceiling gap with a bit of ply to finish it.

Ceiling up, bad picture due to lack of lights, have some nice swivel spots to wire in

And first bits of OSB up in the garage. Looks a bit naff but I think when it’s all up and possibly stained grey it will look good

all looking very good, takes a long time to restore / renovate older buildings - I know I am doing the same right now and nothing is plumb, square or level and our house is 1940s so I know you have your work cut out. Your doing a grand job getting it to look good : - )

Wow! I've just read through 17 pages and I'm amazed at how much you have taken on. Each room is unique in its restoration and design, the limestone steps looks absolutely incredible and your hardwork is paying off. Your use of space through storage is fantastic.

I love what you've done with the place and jealous that I'm not in a position to do the same. Can't wait to see more.

Thanks @iv-tecman and @snips86x only just seen your kind comments when coming back to update this.

Not a lot has happened due to mounting work pressure and lack of trades availability, work has been concentrated on the hall to get it finished.

Started by stripping the bottom half of the upstairs landing newel. Looks simple enough but it’s over 3 metres up over a set of stairs!

couple of hours got it back to wood

Interestingly the hall newel post is solid mahogany, and the upstairs 2 are pine stained to match (all originals)

The weird 70s bell will be ditched when I upgrade to a google doorbell.

Here it is with a new cheapo light fitting
