Based on previous experience, once the dumb money realises the 3070 is out i would be shocked if the price does'nt drop further.

The dumb money has not realised the 3070 is imminent.

That depends somewhat if nvidia's claims about 30 series performance hold up next week, IMHO. Don't get me wrong, I hope they do, but there could be a price bounce on the 2080Ti if the reviews don't quite match the hype.

Only if they drop down to £250-300 i can see them bouncing back but not by much
I still think the 2080ti will beat a 3070 and has 3gb more VRAM so is a better 4K card and from what I've seen if you pump 320w in it just about matches a 3080 so can't see it dropping under £500 myself once the benchmarks are out and people realise the new cards don't live up to the hype.

Problem there is if a stock 3070 does match a stock 2080ti you maybe able to also overclock the 3070 to whatever the 2080ti can overclock too

Do you believe there is any chance the 3080 will not be faster by at least 10% compared to the 2080TI?
I think it will be around 20-30% faster than a bog standard 2080ti, now whether or not these cards will have much overclocking headroom when they are already pulling 320w stock is another thing so that gap could shrink further.

Also bear in mind if they are 30% faster that they also use 30% more power over the 2080ti so it looks to me like this 8nm Samsung node is barely any better than 12nm Turing at equal power hence why that have had to pump up the watts to make these cards out perform the previous generation.

I also believe the door is open for AMD if they can put out a Gpu that is +40% over the 2080ti has 16gb VRAM and uses less power especially if they can price it around £700.

i think it’s fair to say that the 3070 will match it.

dumb money doesn’t game at 4k on the PC, they just want something that plays something like rust very quickly.

Everything I've seen and read today alone says 3080 will be approx 25% better than 2080Ti and that the reviewers are all getting golden FE samples, which is quite a bit less than nvidia claims.

Everything else doing the rounds today says good luck getting a 3080 or 3070 for close to the suggested price or close to the release date.

If a 3080 is more like £800 and a 3070 more like £600, then the current average of £500-£550 for a 2080Ti in your case right now seems about right.

I bought a 2080Ti last week for a smidge under £500 and will be more than happy getting £400 back in 3 months time. Call it a quid a day.

From shader count alone 3070 is better than 2080ti. And thats not even taking into account the architectural enhancements of ampere.
3070 will be faster.

When they are already priced £650-750 and £450-500 respectively?

I wish you well actually getting one at those prices. OCUK prices are going up by £30-£50 a day at present and stock will be very, very limited.

Nvidia MSRP for 2080Ti was originally $999? 2 years ago. Retail prices are still £1100+ today
