Results are good - but think it’ll push a lot of people for a 3090 now though that can afford one.

I could afford one but I would need a new case and to get the best out of it a high refresh rate monitor so really a lot higher cost than the card itself.

Now you know why they showed doom eternal haha, I didn't see 1 other title come close in hardware unboxed.

Hope this makes sense to people what marketing in the best light is.

Looks 50/50 in 4k titles to me, not quite the twice the performance as a 2080 as Jensen was saying was it.

Decent uplift but that's what the 2080ti should have been 2 years ago not to mention the power consumption.

It's pretty much what I expected around 20-30% but hey ho Nvidia knows best.

Thought the big Navi was meant to have double the cores of the 5700xt and also more performance per core?

On that basis I would expect the Big Navi to beat the 3080.
There are rumours that it could be less than 80CU, maybe 72 or 64. Scaling will have an impact on performance.
The leaked two fan card also has 2x8 pin connectors, the same as the bigger three fan card.

I've not read every review or watched them all yet but I noticed one of the biggest games right now was absent from OC3D's review.

I've focused on 1440p as that is what I run. However, I do know that my 2080ti is considerably faster than that. Min FPS for me is 138 @ 2140mhz. And that's absolutely maxed with RT and shadows on max. I see a high FPS of about 180.

1:31 is Warzone with 3080
2560x1440 135-140 fps in downtown

Off to see what my 2080Ti does in Downtown now. Expect nowhere near that as have an i7 4790k CPU but we'll see...

80-100fps for me in 2560x1440. But when I set all lowest GPU settings I also get around that, so am probably limited by CPU. Someone with a Ryzen / i9 / i10 is best comparing

The 3080, quite honestly, is pathetic at 1440p.

I expected this somewhat, as I took in what Adored was saying about the whacking amount of shaders Ampere has, and how at lower resolutions they won't get any "work". Meaning a load will sit idle.

Now yeah look every one I have cherry picked one game, right? yes I have *holds up hands* but, when you consider it is one I play quite a lot (two playthroughs done already) then it is important to me. I don't buy things that don't offer me anything.

Overall?

At 1440p the 3080 is 21% faster. But. That's a stock FE. My 2080Ti runs at 2140mhz with RT enabled and 2150 without it. With a 400w absolute TDP cap. There is no point in me voiding the warranty for 50mhz. (raising the cap to 520w).

I also bought a 2080Ti Aorus Xtreme with a block on, but have yet to test that. However I am under no illusions it will ever get close to the Kingpin. That is what grade A binning from the middle of a wafer looks like.

Put simply? the 3080 offers me absolutely nothing. At all.

Please try and remember the "me" comments in this. Because yes, when I hit that purchase button it is all about me and what I do and play.
