Think i've decided against the 3080 due to cooling. It would dump heat into my pull push CPU HSF
JayzTwoCents disproved that issue.
.Here you go chaps.
Bit of a compare i did, what % increase in speed does 3080 have over 2080Ti at 4K.
All these reviews used 2080Ti FE. These are none RTX figures. 32-33% faster on average.
It be quiet after 2pm tomorrow... but photos of bread and cards to ensue....
That's nice. There's a separate reviews thread. You'd like to probably move it there and request the OP to post it as an opening msg. This thread is going bonkers

In the end this is the smart thing to do. Nvidia are relying on hype and FOMO to get them through the initial wave of Ampere sales until the new AMD cards land.I'd rather wait till AMD's release before making a firm decision.
When will the AMD cards release , or more like when will we get benchmarks for them?In the end this is the smart thing to do. Nvidia are relying on hype and FOMO to get them through the initial wave of Ampere sales until the new AMD cards land.

For me the opposite is trueOnce you go Ultra wide you can't go back, 4K on a 27" screen? ergh
anyone can get more performance by burning more power.

Which just isn't enough given the 3080 uses some 28% more power. This is a bit of a failure really, anyone can get more performance by burning more power. Efficiency hasn't improved enough to justify this even being a new series, it's just *more* (with a better cooler).
I don't mean on this specific GPU, but in general. SLI was just a case of more power more performance. Improvement, real improvement has to come with efficiency improvements. The 3000 just doesn't deliver enough in my opinion. That's not correct: the silicon has to be able to take it.
Yes yes, quite right. People should not bother buying tomorrow, go buy a 2080ti from eBay instead, never know when all that extra vram will come in handy as wellI don't mean on this specific GPU, but in general. That's probably the sensible thing to doI was going to get a 3080 for myself, but I'm not gonna play Nvidia's game this time - personally think early adopters are getting gouged. I'd rather wait till AMD's release before making a firm decision.
