New Registration Number Not Recognised

I will be collecting my new car next Tuesday and have attempted to change my vehicle on my policy online. But the page didn't recognise the registration number (for the new car). So I couldn't make that change.

How long does it usually take for the registration number (for a new car) to be in the system?

Phone your insurer up. They deal with this all the time.

They can write down any registration number you tell them.

Yeah it takes time for it to go through phone your insurer

Phone the insurer, have the VIN number ready and then it'll be updated to the plate when they next pull the update from the DVLA.

This happened to my brother back in 1999 when he bought his new Corsa. We never knew about the car not being registered until he was caught speeding once and the police told him that his car is not registered (Vauxhall didnt register it). Lucky for him, they forgot all about the speeding as they were more worried that the car was stolen.
