What's your ballpark on the price increase? The 3080 is pretty expensive as it is but damn doubling the VRAM would be a big improvement.

i like how it says 'launch after big navi' thats such an nvidia move.

Pretty sure AMD are going to lose again this generation. Nvidia are not going to give up any of their market position easily.

Be interesting to see the AMD cards though. I'm definitely waiting to see what they offer. Might be able to get an idea from the PS5 I pre-ordered... if I actually receive it.

Be amusing seeing the 20gb editions getting exactly the same FPS as the 10gb editions. For £300 more.

Well they'll only see a difference if the clocks speeds are changed. But in a game or application that can use the extra VRAM you will be able to use higher textures and associated settings. FPS will still suffer though in this instance - you'll just have more VRAM.

Now people can pay even more money for 16/20GB cards that have zero performance benefit so they can flex their VRAM usage.

A 20GB VRAM isn't going to future proof you for 8K resolution because it's gonna be another 4-5 years before that's an actual reality so you're better off waiting for the next generation of cards anyway.

10gb is still plenty enough. I’ve never seen a card max that much vram to the point it runs out.

Adding another 10gb would only put prices up by another £100-200, for not really much if any performance benefit other than if you plan on running at 20fps. So we’d be seeing £1000 3080’s :o.

20gb would be better but it will become a more expensive card that’s for sure.

I think you're misunderstanding the concept of more VRAM. If you want to use higher textures, or do CAD, 3D rendering or Video work - VRAM is useful. It might not be that useful for gamers initially unless playing at 4K Ultra with everything turned up to 11. It's debatable though if the 3070 will have any use for this at all.

I guess we'll find out. Obviously more VRAM is going to cost more. Whether it's worth it will depend entirely on your use case. Unlikely to affect gaming resolutions below 1440.

the ps5 will be a cut down version no? i think AMD will compete with a 3080 but no higher. its the RT details im interested in.

Somewhere in the middle.

10gb is enough right now. But probably a bottleneck in a year. But by then there will be 20gb cards so I guess it depends how future proof people expect their card to be.
