What time did you order go through at?
Around 4PM I believe I got through on the phone, I got to checkout so many times prior but it just kept crashing in the cart. I did think it was highly unlikely I was in the first 10 for that card but based on the wait time and the site not working for me I assumed it could have been correct. I’m just disappointed as it’s my birthday today and I would have liked that shiny new card!

Can’t change what’s happened and it’s not the end of the world, it is what it is. Just hope I get one in time for Cyberpunk.

Got the "no Stock" email like most people, did anyone else notice that their order number quoted on the email does not correspond with the order number on their account?

I just looked and It is different for me also, not sure if that is worrying or not. Although the timing of my order is correct, I still have no confirmation email of my order but I got the email saying about no stock. Not sure if that should be worrying or not. @Gibbo if I haven't got my confirmation email but have the out of stock email. Am I okay? I ordered at 15:22 yesterday afternoon.

MSI are aware that we have pre-sold several thousand of their cards, so they know to get making the cards to meet the orders

Wow, what an utter mess. I'm actually glad I didn't manage to place an order.

Good luck dealing with the reputational damage with this one, and I mean that genuinely as someone who used to shop here pretty much exclusively. I remember how OcUK treated us with the 970 returns, was first class.

Taking payment when you don't have the product, nor do you know when you'll get the product is not ok

Look on the bright side everyone: at least you're in a queue.

I'd much rather be in a queue rather than having to continually refresh a dozen different sites at random times of the day hoping there's stock arrived

True, but are you at the back of a queue of 10,000 when another site may have a queue of 1,000

Do I balls believe it :D

It's hilarious to think a retailer is saying "oh this cheaper model sold by the bucket loads" so the more expensive model is launching the week after... Hmm yeah all of a sudden we now can't afford to sell at RRP, that somehow translates to losing money so we need to sell at RRP plus extra £100. It's utter BS and makes zero sense lol.

Capitalism.

That's why I'm buying from the NV shop next week...if I can..:)

I’ve requested a refund because I’m foolishly going to try my hand at getting a 3090. Any idea on the timescale of the refunds after filling in the refund form? Sorry if this has already been answered

I managed to get an order in with a competitor yesterday, but they don't have a forum so I'm going to whinge here based on the same principles... :p

Doing some v basic maths I've worked out that OCUK (and the other 'big' 2) must be sat on literally 10's of millions of pounds based 90%+ on pre-orders only. i.e. the products were not in stock at the time of order.

Most online retailers only take money on item dispatch. We obviously have the right to cancel the pre-order at any time and get our money back, and they are doing nothing 'illegal', but I'm wondering what happens to all this capital that's just floating around waiting to be realised. Is it 'invested' somewhere in the meantime? (which would be highly unethical, but not illegal)

Can any business nerds enlighten us?

This is most likely held in an current account as a liability to the company (as they down own that money until the order is shipped). They can choose to invest this money and in return pay for the cards via their own money. Likewise, they can gain interest on the money received, but hey ho that’s how businesses work sometimes.

Fair point. Guess it also depends on supply. If that site only has a queue of 1000 because it generally doesn’t do as many sales, maybe they get fewer units of stock sent to them too, so queue goes down slower

I ordered 14:09 so hoping I’m somewhere near the front, but still sounds a way off

What if the money is invested in the exploitation of little brown babies, child porn, or the revival of the pop group combo Jedward!? How would we all feel about it then?!
