hi need advice on best option to go for, i currently using an AMD FX 8350 and 12GB of ram, i have been offered below by my brother who has just done an upgrade of his own rig.

MSI X370 XPower Gaming Titanium and AMD 1700X for £200

i know i will also need new ram so this will add about £60 for 16GB to the total, what i was wanting advice on was weather it would be better to and also viable to say spend about £350 max and get something more upto date including ram in that figure.

Thank you

With a ryzen 5 3600 running about £200 (not from OC unfortunatly) and the ram £60 for the cheapest 3200mhz only leaves £100 for a motherboard.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £379.47 (includes shipping: £10.50)

cheaper. Maxt will be fine in a atx case.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £359.46 (includes shipping: £10.50)

Again the 3600 can be had for cheaper

MSI is the only maker who has confirmed Zen3 support for B450 boards.
Also MSI is the only maker who put effort into CPU VRMs in them.
That Asus board is complete brand hype fraud and scam with VRM good only for 65W TDP CPUs.

ok just to give and thank everyone who posted, ive done a bit more research and am likely to pull the trigger on the below for £394 as MSI are doing a £45 cash back offer so gets me to my original budget of £350

MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS AMD Motherboard
AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3600MHz Memory Kit

so only £10 more than my original bundle, unless of course anyone can see anything wrong with this bundle?

Only issue is OC are out of stock on the motherboard and overpriced on all there 3600 chips.
You can save the extra tenner by swapping the ram to

My basket at Overclockers UK:

I would ignore the a520 chipset if your looking for any futre proofing as it doesnt support pcie4 (yes I know it doesnt do much now even with the 3080) but it could in the furure and it also doesnt support overclocking and has less usb support than b550 etc.

thanks for the reply i thought the same about the a520 chipset, yes the bundle has a better CPU but its not worth the cost difference so unless thing change will go for the B550 bundle i looked at for £349 including MSI cash back offer from else where, would have got it here if price was better on 3600 chips
