Order placed 14:19:00 for Asus 3090 Strix OC :) Didn't like the look of any of the 3090's Gibbo mentioned were in stock, plus they only have 2x8pin, which would limit clocks.

Something nice to look forward to arriving in the weeks to come ;)

Was tempted to order the 3080 strix, but something in my mind just wasn't comfortable with a 10GB graphics card in 2020, especially since I'm gaming at 4k, and using a Valve Index VR headset. Plus the pre-order queue for the 3080 strix most likely thousands long at this point!

Every frame matters in VR, and at 4k, so will also appreciate the 10-15% performance boost over a 3080!

Sorry I am out of the loop, what is happening at 5am tomorrow?
This morning at around 5am the 3080 FE cards on the NV site changed from "Out of Stock" to "Add to Cart" for about half an hour and some forum members on here managed to order a card. So I was saying I'm not getting up early tomorrow to see if the same thing happens again.

Reviews don't make it feel worth the money i may just cancel my strix card

Nope....was waiting till today to buy a 3090.....decided on the 3080 and placed the order in the que......paying an extra £1000 for 6-10 extra frames in a game makes no sense.

So it's about 16% better than the RTX 3080 in gaming for about 115% more money.
Not even that. Pitting a fancy Strix OC model against the 3080 FE that's power limited to hell isn't really fair. Comparing the two FEs, the 3090 is only 11% faster at 4K according to Hardware Unboxed's 14-game average. The high end 3080 custom cards will close the gap back up to the Strix... whenever they arrive.

Gamers Nexus did not hold back in their review. The card is obviously a Titan, a workstation card for the consumer, it's not a Ti, it's barely better than an OC'd 3080. I'm not opposed to spending money on cards, I bought two 2080Ti's, but I could not justify spending £1500 for sub 10% gains at 4k. I'm going to let AMD's launch play out, see if they can shake up the market, but if not I'll wait for the 3080Ti.

I'll wait for the 3080Ti.
I think you'll be waiting a very long time. If the 3090 is only 11% faster than a 3080, where does a 3080 Ti sit? 7% faster for £1000+? We know at this point that Nvidia is launching a 20GB 3080 soon too, so the potential VRAM argument is out the window. No doubt the 20GB 3080 will also be pushing £1000 itself, leaving even less room for a 3080 Ti even price-wise.
