Remove drives before sending for repair?

Hi guys,

So my laptop's blown up (burning smell, won't turn on).

Reckon I can remove the drives before I send it back to be repaired? (It's not from OcUK btw).

It's not that I have anything to hide - it's more to ensure I don't lose any data if they wipe the drive(s).

Presumably, I'd need to ask the manufacturer?

OK, so far so good.

The manufacturer has said removing the drives is OK and they've sent a courier to collect.

Fingers crossed!

So glad it had a two year warranty instead of just one year, but we'll see how the repair / return process goes...

Bummer. Although I got the impression the manufacturer warranty was 2 years, that only applies to some laptops and not mine.

Ah well, they were very prompt in collecting and keeping me updated.

I'll rip out the drives and memory and eBay the laptop as faulty.

Bad luck about the warranty was the laptop expensive ?

Maybe takes out addition cover next time.
