20.9.1 on my vega 56, had some black screens it mainly happened in chrome when a video played or try to watch full screen. Went back to whql ones. I do admit maybe cos i didnt do ddu i just installed over the whql ones, still i dont think it should black screen as much as it did.

3700 cpu & 16gb ram it's a pre build from ocuk, will find out what motherboard tomorrow. All my other games are fine just warzone seems to stutter.

I have 20.9.1 drivers for the graphics card, different video settings don't stop the stutter maxed or everything at low.

What fixed the stutter for me was this change rendercount to half of your cores of CPU which you can find in task manager and also change VideoMemoryScale to 0.55 then click save and exit

AMD radeon software is showing 156% VRAM usage in Witcher 3 with a load of mods but I've got it working now without any slowdowns. So can you go over 100% vram usage (8Gb here) without slowdowns now or how is it using 156% of vram? I would not have thought you could use over 100%?

It's Just reading it wrong.

Been like that for a few driver versions now.

Probably why GPU-Z sticks to the Windows derived (Task Manager) D3D Dedicated reading.

Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.9.2 Highlights
Support For

  • STAR WARS™: Squadrons
Added Vulkan™ Support
  • VK_KHR_buffer_device_address
    • This extension is used to query the device address of a buffer to allow for shader access to that buffer’s storage via the SPV_KHR_physical_storage_buffer SPIRV extension.
  • VK_EXT_robustness2
    • This extension provides stricter restrictions for handling reads and writes that are out of bounds. It specifies that out-of-bounds reads must return zeros and out-of-bounds writes must be discarded. This extension also adds support for null descriptors.
  • VK_EXT_shader_image_atomic_int64
    • This extension extends existing 64-bit integer atomic support to images, which provides more efficient access than buffers. This allows applications to quickly improve their performance with minor changes to their code.
Fixed Issues
  • Some games may exhibit stutter intermittently during gameplay on Radeon RX 5000 series graphics products.
  • Radeon FreeSync may fail to enable after updating Radeon Software without a system reboot.
  • Screen flickering may be observed while MSI Afterburner™ is running or enabled on the system.
  • X-Plane 11™ may experience an application hang or crash when using the Vulkan® API.
  • DOOM™ VFR may experience corruption or artifacting in game on Radeon RX 5000 series system configurations.
  • Performance metrics overlay may fail to open or appear after the system wakes from sleep.
  • Call of Duty®: WWII may experience black textures on the ground or walls in zombies game mode.
  • Blocky corruption may be observed in Detroit: Become Human™ on some Radeon RX 5000 series graphics products.
  • Using the Movies&TV application to edit video clips may result in green corruption in the clips.
  • Performance metrics may report incorrect values for current VRAM usage after an extended period of gameplay.
  • With HDR enabled, Windows® desktop may experience flickering, and performing a task switch while in a game may cause colors to become washed out or over saturated.
  • World of Warcraft™ may experience corruption issues with anti-aliasing enabled on DirectX®12 API.
  • Launching Radeon Software after a driver upgrade, may cause the Auto OC dialogue to appear with “0 Mhz” when the Auto OC feature has been previously enabled on Radeon RX Vega series graphics products.
Known Issues
  • Enhanced Sync may cause a black screen to occur when enabled on some games and system configurations. Any users who may be experiencing issues with Enhanced Sync enabled should disable it as a temporary workaround.
  • Performance Metrics Overlay and the Performance Tuning tab incorrectly report higher than expected idle clock speeds on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products. Performance and power consumption are not impacted by this incorrect reporting.
  • Audio may experience instability when connected through an Audio Video Receiver via HDMI® on Radeon RX 5000 series graphics products.
  • Modifying the HDMI Scaling slider may cause FPS to become locked to 30.

I had issues with the beta drivers. The WHQL drivers and this new one seems fine.

Please do realise WHQL doesn't mean anything ... it just means a particular version of the drivers has been "verified and approved" by Microsoft, whatever that may mean. It doesn't mean they're better than any other particular ones.

I have just had to hose down my whole system after installing the 20.9.1 WHQ released yesterday.

It appears they went back to the old code that was causing freezes for a number of people. It's obvious because the hard freezes follow the exact same pattern, and there's other tell tale signs like the forced monitor colour profiles in the control panel even after doing a clean install and factory reset.

Strange decision for a recommended driver.

The 20.9.2 are a surprisingly good driver set.

Default fan behaviour seems to be much more refined, and boost clock skew is also more tightly aligned to ambient temperature.

Not sure if this this is Vega specific, as they do mention Vega in the release notes, but they appear to have made many improvements with these drivers.

Half Life Alyx does not like 20.9.2, Immediate driver crash at the opening menu, Going to 20.9.1WHQL fixed it completely, They must've tweaked something that doesn't play well with SteamVR.

Use the bug reporting tool in Radeon Software to report this.

I'm not so sure it's driver any more as HL:Alyx started acting up again even on my 2080 Ti just now, By the looks of it the problem is the game, There's a 40 page thread on the Steam forums and everyone has the exact same problem, Looks to be the games texture streaming that may be finnicky.
