So Q1 as title, my trusty old i5 has been ruining 4.7ghz all cores on stock volts under a waterblock since it was new.
I know you cant' compare clock speeds due to IPC so what is currently the AMD performance equivalent for PC gaming ?

Q2 ATM I feel unless the new AMD cpu's are going to boost to 5ghz+ on all cores, it really wont be worth me upgrading, or do you see differently ?

a amd 3600 at stock will probably be level or just behind your cpu ingames. with your cpu over clocked. the new cpus should be a nice boost. especially with cores and the ipc. nothing currently is worth swapping to.

9600K: 423 FPS
3600: 498 FPS

CS:GO: 498 / 423 = 1.177 (+17.7% to the 3600)

PUPG
9600K OC: 147 FPS
3600 OC: 130 FPS

Assassin's Creed Odyssey
9600K OC: 86 FPS
3600 OC: 92 FPS

Project Cars
9600K OC: 132 FPS
3600 OC: 116 FPS

HITMAN 2
9600K OC: 123 FPS
3600 OC: 110 FPS

BFV
9600K OC: 172 FPS
3600 OC: 166 FPS

Rainbow Six Siege
9600K OC: 337 FPS
3600 OC: 298 FPS

Metro Exodus
9600K OC: 131 FPS
3600 OC: 122 FPS

The Witcher 3
9600K OC: 155 FPS
3600 OC: 154 FPS

Watch Dogs 2
9600K OC: 106 FPS
3600 OC: 106 FPS

Add it all together:

9600K Overclocked: 1389
3600 Overclocked: 1294

1380 / 1294 = 1.073 (7.3%)

So an overclocked 9600K is on average 7.3% faster in games than an overclocked 3600 :)

Thanks fellas :)
Handy links cheers humbug.
hmm so AMD have so much better IPC currently that approx worst case can still afford to give away 500mhz.
If overclocked can you do all cores and still maintain an auto downclock when no on load ?

The power draw is listed lower than most comparable Intel, but it looks like they run a little hotter ?

I take it any decent X570 board is the best bet for the new range ?

Sorry for the Q's, been a long while since I looked at reds CPU's :)

I am kind of thinking if there is a decent gain with the Zen3, I may look into a change.
