I have been looking for a monitor to replace my 2009 HP LP2475w. I have a decent PC, an o/c i7 9700 with 16gb ram, but my graphics card is a pretty old, a 970.

Every time I look for a monitor, there is nothing that looks to have what I want at a decent price, 1440p to 4k, 100hz+, HDR 1000 (ideally), 30"+, curved possibly. I am fairly sure this was similar to last year (and a bit before that). Obviously with the new consoles HDMI 2.1 is more important too.

I work from home, so general PC duties, PC games, and I will probably have a PS5 connected at some point.

As HDR is still not great, I wonder whether I should get a stop-gap monitor to cover me for a couple of years. I am also in a bit of catch 22 situation where I am not sure whether I should get a new graphics card or monitor first...

Anyway, if you can make sense of any of that, I would be happy for any thoughts or suggestions. Should I get a stop-gap monitor? And if so, what should I go for? The stop-gap monitor could be around £500.
