I'm baffled by mine, it's been in modem mode since installation and getting 375mbps solid. Today there was an outage and when it came back up the hub was syncing at a lower speed. After an hour and a half on hold to VM they asked me to factory reset the HH3 and connect to it in router mode.

In router mode it syncs back at a higher speed and speed test shows 375mbps, putting it back into modem mode it syncs at the higher rate but it's still only getting 200mbps on speed tests.

I know this sounds like it's an internal network issue but it was absolutely fine right up to the point of VM dropping out.

What did their support say?

Not bothered to check tbh, had VM for many decades, so I know if their service status page is down its due to millions clicking on it so they're working on the issue.

The only support page that works is here :

https://downdetector.co.uk/status/virgin-media/

If you click on your area, you can read the comments and many had the same issue as myself, yoyo service or up and down or disconnect and reconnect.

Clearly they're feeling the strain last 2 days !

Anyone in Leigh area, friend in Wigan say's his is fine. Tho I am having any issue's like bad high ping on discord, I reply to someone on there and it stays grey for like 9 seconds then it posts, pages slow loading and images not loading. Speed checks vary, like virgin speedtest times out half way through download then I retry and it does the download fully then shows nothing on upload or other way round if I try again. Always bottom left hand corner of page loading it says "establishing a secure connection" and lingers on that for ages until page loads and it's usually instant. Youtube circle spinny thing... I'm on 350mb package and never had such poor connection, it's always been rock solid stable.

It's beginning to make me itch now.

See my 2 post right above yours, what you have described it pretty much what many are getting still now even for the past 2 days.

You can tell when there is an issue since the Virgin Media status sites saying oops could not display, I find it's easier to go here :
https://downdetector.co.uk/status/virgin-media/
Click your area and read the comments and check the graph with hours, I can see from 8am-12pm(now) VM went belly up. I am assuming people are working from home and the demand just cracked VM in my area.

Hopefully VM are on it and fix it soon.

I do love a good distro ;)

This is with frugalusenet.com, £4.09 per month and as fast/faster then giganews or xsusenet. (my previous providers)

£3.86 right here right now, not bad at all!! Just grabbed one, then I can set 150 connections in nzbget and see what sort of magic happens with these new Linux distros :)

Good man :)

Sometimes less is more so don't be too quick to jump straight into 150 connections, mine saturates by M500 connection with 50.

Indeed, usually get errors if you try and max out anyway - am I reading it right that you get 50 max on the main servers and the other 50 is on the “back up” server? Which only has a 1TB allowance?

I’m going to try get as close as possible to that magic 10Gbps :D

Thank you.

Anyone here used
TP-Link AC1350 Wireless Access Point?

We've good 500mb internet.

What is coverage like? Can it be put on middle floor and give good signal too floor above?

Just for closure my issue was resolved by factory resetting my Draytek. I flashed it as well because there was improvements to the throughput when not using hardware acceleration. Back up to 380Mbps, don't really understand what happened though but to be fair it needed a factory reset as it still had the FTTC BT profile in there and whilst I doubt it was causing issues it's never a bad idea to go from a clean slate.

It's not a directional beam so should be fine.

While the azimuth is not directional in the sense you are suggesting, what you say isn’t correct - ceiling mounted AP’s provide relatively poor coverage above, that’s ignoring the metal mounting plate/ceiling/floor directly above.

See here: https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/115012664088-UniFi-Introduction-to-Antenna-Radiation-Patterns

‘Since most UniFi access points are designed to be mounted on the ceiling or wall, the signal has been optimized for the direction opposite of the mounting side or in the direction facing the U symbol. For that reason, Ubiquiti has opted to exclude the elevation from 90 - 270.’
