So... how are folks feeling about Zen 3? Price rise and no cooler (not that it was a huge factor to begin with). Will be interesting to see how they 5800X performs. Got very little stage time.

Not sure really, looking at other options now as I dont want to wait that long to upgrade. I might get a B550 + 3600 now and switch CPU later.

The 1.1.0 is coming out on the same date as the launch. The 1.0.8 available atm is to ensure CPU can post on day one if you preordered and to ensure you are able to flash 1.1.0. I suspect 1.0.8 isn’t a fully functional bios for zen3. You need the 1.1.0

So the B550 Gaming Edge WiFi is the one to get vs the Tomahawk?

Currently shopping for a board for the 5600x

Also is this memory worth paying extra for (£120) - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...3600mhz-dual-channel-kit-black-my-08q-tg.html

Or just get this as recommended in this thread (£69) - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cors...hannel-kit-black-cmk16gx4m2b32-my-456-cs.html

The 32GB Crucial set is £140, so £20 more than the 8pack and you get double the memory. Would this be okay for a 5600x & gaming?

Glad you've said this, will investigate the Gaming Edge wifi. Was thinking of the Tomahawk, but will revisit the mobo scene!

Edit: Seems the X570 gaming edge is only £20 more (£180). Although I know a good B550 board doesn't always mean a good X570 board.

The X570 Gaming Edge is a terrible board. Avoid at all costs. The B550 version is solid.

I went for the MSI X570 Tomahawk Wifi for a 5000x CPU. Good motherboard reviews and with the built in WiFi and Bluetooth it'll be less cluttered. I'll put my old Wifi and Bluetooth cards in my old 1950 Threadripper setup.

I like the offering. Cooler doesn't bother me, probably a good thing for the planet.
I would buy the 5900x right now but.... The prices are just a little high to tempt me I think. I'll wait till next gen. I'm on a 3700x so I can well wait. Don't need to upgrade a cpu each gen.

I'm really torn on what to do. I want a good gaming CPU to pair with an RTX 3080. Currently thinking of the i7-10700K, but will wait to see the Zen 3 reviews. The 5800X seems pretty pricey if the £430 is correct. Puts it on par with the i9-10850K.

I'm looking at Zen 3 upgrade from a 6700k with Rog Formula 8 mobo. System worked fine with my 2080Ti but having changed mind on a 3090 I'll be picking up a 3080 (when I can!) And putting money saved into Zen 3. I'll be playing games at 4k on a 65" CX so not sure if I'll need the 5900x or can get by with one of the lower SKU's. I've put aside £2k to make some changes so any ideas on a good CPU/mobo combo would be much appreciated.
