Not odd at all. Why would people choose to socialise if they have nothing in common? I have a group of mates, who are really great lads, but the women aren’t generally there. We get very ‘merry’, so I dare say they have no interest in doing that. My Mrs sometimes joins in if she’s about but mainly as she likes a drink or ten as well, and generally banters better with men than women anyway.
Which leads us to another point; blokes like blokey time and women like girly time. We can talk about the things we wouldn’t discuss with women around, and vice versa. I think it’s more weird if people
didn’t want that from time to time.
I’ve got other mates where we do go out as couples. It’s all about the people at the end of the day, some people are just easier to get along with. There’s also the factor of the blokes who are joined at the hip so you have to go out as couples otherwise they’re not allowed out
