Thank you for contacting Western Digital Technical Support. My name is Akhilendra and I am happy to assist you today.

As per the email recevied, I understand your unable to access you are drive on non pc hardware.

I apologize for the inconvenience that may cause you.

This is to inform you the issue can be caused by the following reasons.

I would like to inform you, 'WD Elements' hard disk is initially formatted with GUID partition table and NTFS File system and Smart TV may not support the partition table, file system and or capacity of your WD elements.

Hence please contact with Smart TV manufacturer to determine if the make of the model with the TV supports the partition table, file system and capacity of the external USB drive.

Also, for additional information, I would like to inform you that most of the Smart TV supports MBR partition table and NTFS File system. Thus, to change the partition table of the drive.

This is to inform you if you are using windows OS then, you may refer the below mentioned steps to reformat the drive:

1. Take back up of data (if any).

2. Kindly perform ‘Quickly Erase’ (data destructive) using ‘Data Lifeguard Diagnostics’ tool. You may refer mentioned link for more information:

https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10850

3. Once after the erase process complete, kindly initialize the disk in ‘MBR’ from the 'Disk Management'. You may refer mentioned how to initialize in Windows OS:

https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/18824

4. Format the drive in NTFS from the ‘Disk Management’. You may refer mentioned link for how to partition and format a WD drive on Windows and Mac OSX

https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8200

Note: Formatting the drive will erase all data on the drive and is not recoverable
