Back breaking weekend. Laid (with help) 20 sqm of Sandstone slabs and 2 ton of Welsh slate to connect from the main garden into the man cave. Started to rain, so was unable to finish the pointing.

The only thing I never really understood with paving is the obsession with 90 degree angles. I get it looks nicer but it goes against human nature to walk like that.

Plasterer is here tomorrow and Tuesday - hopefully it should be dried out for the weekend as we have visitors so everything (well the bed, dressing table and wardrobe minimum) will need moving back in. Then back out again when they've gone so I can paint and get a new carpet in ....
Is it dry yet? ;) I had some walls skimmed recently and they took a good 3-4 days to dry out. Don't force them to dry by using heaters or a dehumidifier - just keep a window ajar and let the plaster dry out naturally.

He did three walls yesterday and is here now doing the fourth wall (bay window) and the ceiling.

Windows are on locked open and the radiator on as normal. Should be fine for visitors on Friday evening

He's done and really happy with it. The walls he did yesterday are drying out nicely :)

Those pictures are giving me horrible flashbacks!:D

Had just the walls skimmed, mist coated at least twice, before putting the final colour on. Carpets are due to be laid soon and I'm really hating the upheaval (again). :(

You've picked the wrong time of year for it:D. I did 1 of ours earlier this year, and found it the most boring tedious job I've ever done. I was tempted to spray but didn't want to upset the neighbours.

OR you could have gone ahead and sprayed it anyway, covering your neighbours table and chairs, decking, plants etc. just like mine did (even after I asked him if anything needed moving first). Prized Pirck.

Shelves went up.

KHPgSnY.png

I initially stained them a little too dark and had to sand back to bare wood again and recoat using only 1 coat of stain. What was annoying was the test piece i used had 3 costs of stain. Suppose it's the difference in that i spent a lot more time prepping the shelves and only gave the test piece a light sand.

What was also annoying was that my wood was 8x2, so i bought 8" shelf brackets. Fitted perfectly as a test fit, but the screws aren't countersunk into the bracket so stick out ~4mm which stops the shelf fitting. I had to cut a recess out at the back to get them to fit.

Where are those brackets from? Quite like em.

Does this count? Not quite there yet, but the wife was having problems visualising our plans for a garden overhaul, so i created some really basic assets in Fusion 360 then printed on my Ender3.

It's to scale, 10mm = 1meter

nice job that looks almost identical to my living room with those massive bay windows.

strangely I also have the same configuration with the plug sockets, If I could go back I would have put
a plug socket on the inside walls of the bay window or just 1 side. handy having them there if you got sofas along them walls it gets difficult to access the socket. also useful if something needs to be plugged to be on the window shelf.

Very coincidental :D

It's a bedroom and we had the downstairs mostly rewired when we had a loft conversion last year so all planned out for the bedroom layout :)

It's pretty much dried out so sanded the woodwork and gave the walls / ceiling and coving it's first coat of paint today.

Yesterday swapped out an old an rather tatty looking radiator for a new one

Also built a new step to the front door

After

Also (you can just see to the right) replaced a broken paving slab with a new one

IMG-20201017-142316.jpg

Broke it out

IMG-20201017-152945.jpg

The new one was (as expected) nowhere near the same colour due to the age and weathering if the existing

IMG-20201017-154223.jpg

But luckily and by sheer coincidence my dad had one that had been stored in his garden for years and it matched a damn site better

IMG-20201017-162645.jpg

There was also a wobbly flag further down the steps so brought that up, cut the old bed out and rebedded and repointed it
