I would agree with this, there is no chance of demanding games hitting much if any above 60FPS at 4k with a high end GPU, look at RDR2. 1440p will give you those high frames in almost anything if you're looking at up to 100fps or over. Look at how that Bright Memory benchmark runs even at 1440p.I'm looking to build my first gaming PC, and think this is largely a 1440p generation (given I play primarily FPS games). I also have a bog-standard 4K60 monitor that I can play story/driving games in. I think the next gen onwards will be safely 4K, and by then hopefully 144hz 4K monitors will be decent.
Anyone saying these cards are waste for 1440p is talking rubbish. I think 4K high refresh will be doable (if talking 100+fps for most games) either next gen or the one after. Plenty of time for monitor prices to come down & mature at the same time.
