Picked up a faulty Compaq laptop for spare parts for my mine. These parts are getting a lot harder to find now, so having a spare keyboard and plastics is always good. Good thing about this broken was the battery is still good. It can last an hour on a full charge which is pretty good for a laptop like this. I still need to repair the floppy drive. It needs the belt replacing and is a fiddly job. Still its getting there.

As you may have seen on Vogons my retro activity was painting an old PC case. This one (which I cleaned up and used for dozens of builds over the last few years):

Now looks like this:

I'm terrible at painting so I'm... not distraught at the finish I got.

It's a very useful case as it has some AT motherboard holes for standoffs and I now own risers that sit on the chassis rather than go through the chassis, so I could quite reasonably put a 486 or something in there (and have done before). It's also the case that I poorly drilled an AT power switch hole in.

I've put a wide range of drives in the case with the view that I won't need to take any out to build a wide range of PCs. I've got:

IDE 80GB drive
IDE DVD-ROM
IDE CD-RW
Gotek floppy
3.5" floppy
2.5" SATA II SSD 120GB.

So I could concievably put a 386 in there (and use a CF card around the back), put a Windows 98 system using the 80GB drive, Windows XP on the HDD or SSD, or Windows 7 on the SSD.

The power supply has molex, sata, 20+4 pin 12v 4pin connectors and a -5v rail.

Anyway I put an old AMD logo sticker on it I got from eBay (along with an old windows logo and VIA EPIA logo) and immediately build a Pentium 4 system in there:p I got a later 478 board and want to test out my 3.4GHz CPU with my 7600GS considering I was 'system limited' or something on that dual Xeon thing I was messing with.

Thats actually really smart. Unexpected colour but I quite like it!

Does anyone have a source for I/O shields with hole for the AT keyboard connector? For cases that support AT and ATX both. Ive seen mentions of them being on ebay or 3d printed but cannot find any.

Apologies, also posted this in an old CM thread in the cases forum but thought it was relevant here. 2006/7 ish dream XP build in a 201.

Still need to tweak a few things (are they ever truly finished?) but it’s assembled and working.

Offered me a counter-offer of £50 for them, but I'm honestly not sure what I would do with them...

Worth it but probably not worth dealing with the extra crap in the bundle!

@rare that is a beauty!

That's a lot of crap and a GF 2 GTS to sift through for the Voodoo cards!

Graphics Cards now listed as a separate bundle, and he said would accept for £50
