Okay so lots of replies here with solid recommendations, but I can’t help but wonder OP - what are you actually looking for?
When you say performance, do you mean you want it to be quick, or fun? Or both? Does it need to be a good daily?
Honestly, the best all round sports car you’ll get in that price bracket is a Cayman S or if you can afford one, a GTS. Unbelievable car to drive and the noise is out of this world.
But you’re not going to enjoy it if you want a fast straight line car that’s comfortable and practical. In which case I’d be inclined to go for an RS3, as the 5 cylinder engine is excellent, and makes up for the otherwise dull drive.
