I think the payments are processed in batches as I've had some places take over a week and they never showed on pending transaction but the account always showed the money available > less than balance

are you sure they havent been processed under some other name and not selfridges like you expect

I once had a transaction take about 6 weeks to show up. It was a meal in an indian restaurant on a weekend trip to London about 15 years ago. I was pretty pleased to be saving ~£60... but it showed up eventually :(

Don't recall any other transactions being delayed by any time at all really.
