The cynic on me says that the manufacturers/retailers would like to sell off their old stock before they announce a new generation.

That's not cynicism, it's commercial common sense.

There’s nothing coming down the pipe anyway. The laptop chips for Ryzen 5xxx, Intel H series 11xx and nVidia/AMD next gen haven’t even been announced so there’s no way they’ll have made their way to market in a month’s time. Look at April/May next year for a realistic timeframe IMO

Spoke to HP earlier about stock of an Omen 17 and asked about the date of next range of laptops, I believe they said around Easter next year as I think they’ve only just refreshed with 10th Gen and 2080 Super which is already out of stock
