1605Mhz is base clock, absolute worst case scenario, 50c in your room and the GPU is in a fan-less sweatbox and the GPU is clogged up with cat hair. Ignore it.
1785Mhz is the minimum it can boost to, again unless something is not right ignore it, mine boosts to about 1950Mhz which drops to about 1920Mhz once up to temperature.
I run it +100Mhz, gives me between 2000Mhz and 2040Mhz.

PS: the 2070 Super will give you a huge boost over the 980. HUGE

What sort of improvement would you say from a 1070? Gaming at 1440p.

I moved from a 1070ti to a 2070s (Asus strix oc) which overclocks to the same as Humbugs, the increase in performance was quite good at 1440p.

Nothing crazy, but enough to warrant the change imo.

Although I'll probably get a 6800xt or 6900xtx on release.

I had a 1080 that blew up and replaced it with a 2070S and was actually surprised at how much better the 2070S was. The difference is even greater with the 980. Course it depends on the monitor you are using and the games you play. The Gigabytes S also run insanely cool. Normal game playing for me at 3440x1440 mine is running at 45 degrees C. Some games it gets over 50, but never seen it hit 60 yet. That's because they have the same cooler as the 2080's.
