Gaming PC for around £1000

Hi all,

A buddy of mine wants a new PC for gaming, he only needs the box, budjet is around £1000.

I have no idea what games he will be playing, he likes shooters and racing games.

What sort of setup should I be looking at?

Is this a self build or pre built system ? Does he need windows and wifi ?

This will be a self build, and no WiFi is needed, windows he will be buying elsewhere.

The problem at the momment is there are new cpu and gpu arriving but getting hold of them is the dilemma. Also stock of other components are sparce.

There are lots of variations like you could drop the ram to 16gb, you can get the 3600 for £180.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, seems a very good build for the price.

Is the stock cooler for the processor good enough or should I be looking for something better?

Stock coolers s can be noisy but I would get another to keep noise and temps down, these are excellent coolers and would look nice in your build but there are many to choose from.

Little update, he is buying 3x 27" monitors and wants to know if the pc will run flight sim 2020 without issues. He has the money set aside for the monitors and has a little more to add anything to the pc if needed. Any ideas? Or is this a pc that will cope without issues for the coming years. He does plan on upgrading gfx when more 3060/3070 are available.

Any more advice? Upgrade CPU to 3600X/3700X? GFX to 2060 Super or 2070? His main concern is Flight Sim 2020 and 3 monitor support, I said should be fine but just to double check.

EDIT: Now he would like WiFi onboard.

If budget allows get a 3700x and the best gp u you can afford, there are new gpu's but availability is a nightmare

There are new cpu out but getting them is difficult and you would want a b550 or x570 motherboard.

Your welcome.

Put a build together check hes happy and you could always post here so we can critique before you purchase.

What I would also sugest is to look at gpu for triple monitor monitor set up for ms2020.

1080p 1440p etc
