I think he is saying he would understand the temps if its a tiny SFF case, but he has the Core X9 which is indeed a massive case.

That said I would not worry if the case itself is warm, would be a given if your dumping 400 watts from a GPU alone to make the case panels around it feel warm. As long as the component temps are all good, then non issue IMO.

Yes that was my meaning, I think I'll put a couple of exhaust fans on the top of the case where the hotspot is. That with an extra intake fan should sort it.

I think if I leave it the way it is it will end up throttling more than it needs to.

Alternatively, I could chuck a waterblock on it and add an extra radiator to my loop. Anyone have any experience doing that? If so, do the blocks normally come with thermal pads or do you buy them separately?

well like I said it's a 400w card

what is your case

One of these (core x9): It's essentially a double width full tower.

Can chuck few exhaust fans up top. I suspect your strix temps itself largely is fine and right now what your seeing is simply 400w GPU then say 200w other component heat rising as one would expect and heating up the top case as heat pass's through the holes Entirely normal behaviour. That said a Fan up there will certainly help in the removal of heat from the case rather then wafting slowly through the top.

Waterblock if of course an option but you will be generating the same amount of heat, in fact usually more so overall as usually your power draw will go up as A) the card is able to keep cooler and B) other heat generating parts added like the pump (though is neglible) what you will be doing is moving the spot the heat is generated from the GPU cooler to the radiator. yes in my experience every waterblock I have purchased (about a dozen) from Bitspower, EK, Phanteks have all come with the required thermal pads and thermal paste in most instances.

I'm getting hard resets with this card. I have an EVGA 850 Gold PSU that is 5 years old. I've updated all my drivers and I've even done a system reboot and nothing seems to work. Do you suggest I get a new 1000 W PSU?

Thanks

Have you got other ports in your PSU for GPU power? If so try them.

I have tried all ports and nothing seems to work. I'd order a new PSU from The rainforest but they don't have any 1000W at the mo. They are the only place with a returns policy that i feel brave enough ordering a new one from incase its not the issue

I was getting the same with my FE 3090. The pc would just shut off mid game and wouldn’t restart unless I powered off the psu waited and powered back on. This is with a 2 year old seasonic 850w gold psu. I ordered a seasonic 1300w gold that was in stock with a competitor so I can just swap the unit out and leave my tidy cabling I spent hours installing in place.

Please let me know if it makes a difference. Good luck

EK block modified by myself to fit, and the card is a KFA2 SG 3090, it does allow the card to boost well and hold it nicely. plus its as cool as can be. Quad rad and D5 pump as GFX card is on its own cooling loop.

Do you find you can overclock the 3090 further with the waterblock on?

Welp, pretty much confirmed, contacted my supplier, they got 15 in stock for the 3090 Asus strix OC, which brought me down to position 10. Spoke to the supplier and they have no idea when they will receive more from Asus at this time... Wonderful.

Was luckily looking at my phone when the availability alert popped up last week. Was intending to go AMD but couldn’t face the likely crashing websites and inevitable disappointment!

Edit: no idea why photo won’t post - will edit when I know what I’m doing!
