I don't know about you guys but I'm just really confused as to what to upgrade to now. Initially on the bandwagon for a 3080 but contemplating a 3090. After witnessing the disastrous launch, and the serious lack of stock issues effecting all Nvidia card producers I resisted pre-ordering anything. Now AMD's arsenal looks extremely compelling but I have had such bad experiences with AMD cards and drivers.

What to do.....

Videocardz leak indicates a 3080 architecture with more vram but wccftech leak indicates a 3090 with less vram, wonder which site I'd trust more...

I believe the original source is kopite.. so its a 3090 with the memory bandwidth of 3080
Instead i would have liked a 3090 with 12GB less ram but with same memory bandwidth..
Probably nvidia believes that its better to market a slightly slower product than facing the wrath of recent 3090 gaming owners who would have received the card just a week before the official 3080ti announcement :D
But, then the content creators towards whom the 3090 is marketed will instead buy 2 3080 tis..
However, it has been speculated the 3080 ti wont have nvlink and thus there will be no support for memory pooling atleast..
I dont know what to conclude, but either the 20 GB 3080 ti would be DOA or the 3090 become EOL, either of those 2 outcomes

There is definitely a premium for familiarity, i wont be looking at changing my experience if competing cards are inside the +/-10% price and performance envelope. And the 3080 is superior to 6800XT provided you can snipe one at the original suggested price. If you are in the market for a 3080 or equivalent graphic, i would suggest waiting till the 6800XT launches then compare prices and change preference only if the price is outside the +/-10% range

3090 makes no sense unless time is money, and then the 3090 may pay for itself over time. However, the 3080Ti at £1000 is going to make that argument look even flimsier. Thank you AMD.

I think there was always gonna be a 3080ti no matter what AMD did there is too big a price gap between 3080/3090. Nvidia were just waiting to see what AMD to amend the configuration.

2080ti cards out performed Titan cards costing a lot more. So i would expect the 3080ti to be very close with 3090 cards from the off. Nvidia is of course worried by the 6800xt and 6900xt but the 3080ti was always coming, they just waited for AMD to show there hand first.
I would also expect a Full blown Titan card to follow, dont need a 3090ti just a titan will do.

Owners threads are filling up nicely. Probably only 1% of people post in such threads. There are hundreds of thousands of 3070, 3080 and 3090 owners world wide at this point.

If you haven't got a card, sign up to one of the telegram 3070/3080/3090 channels out there (google) and you'll be announced when Nvidia does drops for FE cards (MSRP) or when retailers with 10-15% higher than MSRP prices have stock.

100S of 1000s? PMSL do you work for Nvidia? Honestly, the 2 biggest etailers in the UK will be lucky if they have shipped 500 each in total. I reckon that there will be abour 10,000 to 20,000 owners in the world. OCUK still have 5000+ pre orders to fulfill yet.

With the performance difference between the 3080 and the 3090 being so small, this leaves a very little gap for the 3080Ti to slot into.

Doesn't make any sense.

I am amazed how blind people seem to be of the practicalities of a 3080 vs 3090.

The 3090 is significantly bigger than the 3080 while providing only comparatively little additional performance. The 3080 costs less to build with a smaller heatsink... if Nvidia can produce a faster card with more VRAm on a 3080 design then clearly that is far preferable.

The 3090 is a joke of a card and they would be stupid to release a 12GB version of it.

At the end of the day I think the launch of this 'Ti' depends purely on how AMD cards perform with SAM and RAGE disabled in third party reviews. If it only performs better with these 2 enabled, NVIDIA won't do a thing as not everyone would buy a 5000 series CPU for this gain.

3080TI will have to outperform the 6900XT if they want to charge £1000 for it. The incremental FPS improvement over the 6800XT/3080 will mean they can't take the pi$$. I might buy one at £799.

The 6900XT is 'around' £999 and that's what a 3080 Ti would be directly competing with in performance terms. It doesn't need to be any cheaper (from Nvidias perspective) than what AMD are charging for that.

No, no...didn't you see the memo? ;) There is simply no way they can charge £999 for it, it has to be £799 or it's DOA! (repeat after me!)

Nvidia won't charge a penny less than the XT they'll figure the RT+DLSS mindshare will be enough to scoop up the majority of sales at the same price point and they're probably right. Assuming they can actually get anything in the stores this time.

It wont.
3080ti will as the 3080 be bought maybe in march 2021.
Nvidia face shortages of high end.
pure definition of a paper launch

Still don’t understand the point of a 3080Ti. This must be the first Ti card which would be only 6-8 FPS faster than the non-Ti variant. Funnily enough, by this logic an overclocked 3080 is already an Ti

NV giving you the card you should have had in the first place, but they cheaped out on the VRAM, now they want another £200-£300 for it...a complete scam from start to finish. The MRSP on the original cards was in most cases total BS, not they want people to ay in advance fr another over-priced vapourware card!

Will fools rush in to hand over too much money for nothing in return?

You bet your a** they will!

At £799 it's reasonable deal if they can squeeze another 10-15% out of the process vs 3080 and give us another 8-10fps at 4K with at least 16GB VRAM. Otherwise I'll wait, I'm really enjoying RDR2 performance as good as a 3080 with my 1080TI SLI. We need a 50% performance hike soon as today's cards are still way too slow now SLI is deaded/dying.
