A friend wants me to put together a PC for Christmas for their kid, needs to be able to handle VR, games will be at 1080p, this is what I have come up with so far if anyone can suggest better/cheaper options plz I'm all ears. Trying to stay below £600 but hard.

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor - £180
MSI B450 Gaming Plus MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard - £73.69
Team T-FORCE VULCAN Z 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 CL16 Memory - 39.86
Team GX2 512 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive - £39.30
MSI Radeon RX 5500 XT 8 GB MECH OC Video Card - £188
Phanteks Eclipse P300 ATX Mid Tower Case £53
EVGA BR 500 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply £63

You got some excellent prices on some of the parts. Are you sourcing them all new?

can’t remember if that EVGA PSU is a long term choice or not. But I would say go 650w then you don’t have to reinvest down the line should you want to say slot in a more power GPU

there are cheaper atx cases to be had which can offset against the psu cost

Yeah all new parts, i used partpicker to find the best prices, i think it was only a slight difference in price for a 650w so will change to that.
