Seems like the 6800XT is better than the 3080 at 1080p and 1440p and Nvidia 3080 is up to 15% faster at 4k (my resolution) in specific games and Nvidia are miles ahead with Ray Tracing performance.

Maybe 6800XT will be the competitive gamers GPU of choice.

I expect the price difference to widen once stock is plenty. As it happened with the 5700xt and 2070 super I expect the 6800xt to become consistently available at £100 cheaper.

I can bet nvidia will push some drivers out over the next few days guaranteed. AMD if you don't plan on playing RTX or DLSS titles. I mean on a few RTX/DLSS 2.0 Titles its severly behind. Control for example 60fps vs 20fps at 4k.

Still a great accomplishment by AMD though as at least rasterisation wise they are as fast if not a little bit faster in a fair few titles.

They could have pulled Nvidia's trousers down if they priced this at ~£500 but then maybe the margins werent in it for them at that price.

All seems to be about where the leaks put it. Faster or on par with the 3080 (sometimes the 3090) at 1080p/1440p, slower at 4K and ray tracing performance more like a 3070/2080 Ti. Power consumption seems very impressive too. Far less than the 3080 or 3090.

The drivers seem to be a bit of a mess again though. The list of issues on the new one is huge, including a warning of random crashing when ray tracing is enabled in just about every game.

i think calling it "better" is a bit of a stretch:

the reality is at any resolution you're splitting hairs to call any difference between the 3080 and 6800xt when it comes to pure raster. it comes down to whether you think all the extra features of the 3080 are worth the 10% price increase and whether you have any interest in ray tracing.

GG AMD, nice to see them being competitive at the top end again.

Hopefully this shakes things up a bit in the GPU market and we see prices stabilise downwards into the new year once stock levels on both sides are sorted.

So 1080p AMD takes the crown but I imagine people buying a 6800XT want to play at higher resolutions where the 3080 is still ahead...
As for RT performance, we all knew AMD would not be able to match Nvidia due to the tensor cores (and no DLSS equivalent widens the gap even more).

AMD need to lower the price of the 6800XT otherwise it's pointless buying it over the 3080.
The 6800 looks very nice compared to the 3070 though!!

Only good news for us, better drivers and more performance. No waiting around for ages for things to get fixed or improved.
