Looks like I'll be getting 3090. Is FE the pick of the bunch or is there a decent alternative? Dont fancy paying an extra 200 quid to the scalers and chance of getting on drop is slim. Card will go under water straight away.

Would not get anything else tbh unless your into benchmarking. My first one had whine but clocked about inline with what others see with aftermarket models. Build quality is superb on the unit and it was very cool and quiet. New replacement does not have whine clocks pretty well and I imagine unless you really want to hit the benchmarks hard with a 500w BIOS some models have which will only be noticeable in benchmarks mostly, you will be fine.

What waterblock you putting it under straight away though? you got one on order? waiting on the EK one as that block looks amazing for the FE models!

Got a Timespy Demo graphics score of 18685 out of the box with my 3090 FE. Is that any good? seeing people get 20k+. Overall score was 14325 with a Ryzen 3600.

Very fortunate though it's rock steady with 0 coil whine.

I am also looking at the Ek waterblock - bit worried how tricky the FE is to disassemble? Plus how does the WB cool the ram on the other side of the PCB?

Ahh, just a side note block out now to order is 3080FE only, Just cautious when you said you will put GPU under block right away as the EK one has not yet been revealed for the 3090FE.

On the ram, not sure if they will do anything fancy with the 3090 block, if I had to venture a guess the fact water is helping to remove away most the heat will mean PCB will be a factor, couple that with the ribbed back if they do use the same 3080FE block which likely increases the surface area should aid in keeping things good.

Yeah does look a pain in the ass to take apart, but imagine just be patient and have good screwdrivers on hand and you should be okay.

Yeah, benching days are well over. Availability / cost is more important now than being able to run a bin or two higher!

Block i'll order once i've got a card to put it on. It'll be bought purely on aesthetics, days of worrying over a degree or two are well gone!

1080Ti FE was a PITA so i'd assume these are much the same. Not a big deal tbh, just takes a little longer than an AIB to disassemble...

I did actually manage to snag a 3090 FE a week or so back now and "upgraded" from my 3080 FE :p I've been pretty fortunate on securing cards so I suppose I should be on this Roll of Honour now :)

dktGYdP.jpg

This is also my highest score at the moment on 3D Mark Time Spy https://www.3dmark.com/spy/15122684

Graphics Score of 21522 :D It clocks well that's for sure.

I need to stick the overclock back on my CPU at some point to hit over 20000 total score without issue.

-btw...if, on nvidia's website the button says "add to cart" and not greyed out saying "out of stock" it definitely means its in stock at the bolton place ((as nvidia iss selling fe-s. through them in the uk) right?
Hope that makes sense..

Enjoy your card !

Yup, my card is being dispatched from the Bolton place ... the NVIDIA site linked my order to them.
