Thanks however last night I was just about to hit the buy button on the Sony when my mate told me about the Xiaomi Mi10T Pro Black Friday deal of £399.
I still think the Sony is way better even though there's a couple of things missing.

I'd been reading this thread as well with interest and had been considering the Xperia 5ii, S20 FE and the Huawei which is linked here. I usually hold on to my phones for 3 or 4 years but don't know if the P30 Pro would be a sensible choice due to the whole goings on with Huawei/Google services etc.. That's a great price though.

I have bit the bullet on the Sony Xperia 5 ii and I'm getting some free £159 Sony WH-H910N Noise Cancelling Wireless Headphones thrown in which effectively makes the phone £440.
I was after some decent bluetooth over ears so bonus.
It was very close with the P30 Pro New Edition.

You need to go on the site every day, there's been some proper bargains.

What in 20+ years?
I probably held a mates Philips D12 but that's it, I know what phones look like so I don't need to hold one before I buy one.
Even in shops I've just gone in for what I want because I've already done my homework.
