Hi all,

My current specs are as follows:

CPU
Intel Core i5 6600K @ 3.50GHz
(Noctua NH-D14 CPU Fan)
RAM
HyperX FURY 16 GB DDR4 2666 MHz (2 x 8GB)
Motherboard
ASUS Z170-A (LGA1151)
Graphics
Dell S2716DG (2560x1440)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
Storage
465GB Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB (SSD)
Power Supply
650W EVGA SuperNOVA G2 PSU

I am looking at completing the following upgrades soon:

CPU -> AMD 5600X
RAM -> Crucial 3600mhz 2x16GB or 4x8GB
MOTHERBOARD -> MSI Tomahawk B550
GPU -> NV 3080 or AMD 6800XT (Dependant on reviews tomorrow)

Do I need an upgrade from 650W for these upgrades?

If so, which is the best manufacturer in the PSU industry these days?

Thanks,

Marky

You already have one of the best 650watters out there (Current or older) AMD recommends 650w for a 6800xt. You might be pushing your luck with a 3800 though. EVGA G2 range was one of the Best range of PSU's ever made. If in doubt buy a Superflower Leadex PSU as the G2 range was based on that.

I just checked a couple of 3080 reviews of the higher end cards for worst case power consumption and gaming use see's a total system power draw of 480w or less at the wall so you should be ok. Looks like AMD's cards need less power so you would be fine with those. Just be sure to power whatever card you end up with from a pair of seperate pci-e cables and not the daisy chained single lead.
