Yes & no. Yes in the fact that it was a well reviewed PSU in its day & most of said reviews were good. No as the reviews were 10 years ago & if your is that age it will have degraded. Probably to the point it won't power your proposed rig, if it does then you could end up with stablity problems when gaming.

/\/\ then buy a 750w PSU with the money you have saved. I wouldn't risk £1.2k worth of hardware with a 10 year old PSU, even if said PSU was based on a Seasonic S12II at the time if my research is correct. I owned 2 Corsair PSU's from around that time & they had a easy but short shelf life.

They are better than they were since John Gerow (AKA Jonnyguru) took over PSU Development at Corsair, he was a very well regarded PSU reviewer before doing what he does now, so kudos to Corsair for taking him on. Most of the Corsairs are OOS at OCUK though. If you want to buy a PSU now get this.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £117.49 (includes shipping: £10.50)

What would you buy for up to £160?

Your choice is what I will buy :)

Difficult to say. Seasonic is a specialist maker of PSU's & have been making them longer than Corsair have been selling them. Corsair have fingers in many pies & have sold PSU's for about 13 years. They have always had PSU's made for them under their own requirements & specs, Seasonic was the first maker of Corsair PSU's when they first started out then changed manufacturers. That didn't go too well for them at the time of the change, I think they are more or less back to where they were at the beginning of when they started selling PSU's.

I would consider Corsair again when it comes to buying a new PSU, probably an RM or an RMx model. The HX series I wouldn't buy again as I had 2 & both didn't last long, but that was almost 10 years ago & Corsair have moved on since then.
